Volunteers will help maintain Sunshine Preserve, a conserved space on the eastern edge of the Verdugo Mountains that serves as a sanctuary for biodiversity. Restoration tasks will include removing invasive species, maintaining our Engelmann oak grove, constructing cages to protect native plants from herbivores, watering, sheet mulching, and other habitat restoration activities. These efforts will improve the health and resilience of native ecosystems, increase native vegetation that stores carbon, enhance wildlife habitat, and help the landscape better withstand the impacts of climate change, including drought and wildfire.
