Golden
Garden School Foundation Project
1) Volunteers will support our Cafeteria to Compost program which is our edible food recovery and organic waste prevention program. Volunteers will help maintain our community compost piles by processing cafeteria food scraps, building and turning hot compost piles, and sifting finished compost. Our compost program diverts waste from landfills and creates amendment for us to build healthy, strong soil in our urban school environments.
2) Volunteers will directly help with urban greening and local food access by helping maintain our school garden beds. Volunteers will turn over crops, weed, harvest, and plant in our school gardens which are located in historically underserved urban environments across Los Angeles city.
