Our event will enlist the volunteer help of North Sacramento, a recognized “food desert”, to create a sustainable community garden at the historic North Sacramento School. We are partnering with several community associations & local nonprofits in the neighborhood to turn the outdoor space into a place that fosters community engagement, food literacy, and seasonal nutrition through communal plant boxes shared by youth and seniors. The community garden will remain part of the redevelopment to turn the property into a vibrant community space.
