"Volunteers will work alongside San Diego Bird Alliance staff to plant native plants and remove invasive plants at Sweetwater Park along the shore of San Diego Bay, to improve habitat for birds and other wildlife. Volunteers will be working to restore wetland-adjacent coastal sage scrub. This grant will provide native plants and seeds for an area of a new public park where we've been working with volunteers for two years to improve habitat and use community science to monitor the increased bird usage of the area. This important park is the border between the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the more recreation-focused Port of San Diego park, so it's a great place to get our hands dirty and share the need for wild places along the tidal shoreline of our bay."
