Hope Avenue Project
"Hope Avenue is working in its local area to help implement the Oakland Urban Forest Plan. (see link below) We are situated in the Oakland flat lands that has been identified as a ""front line"" community experiencing a critical lack of trees. We are working in partnership with Garfield Elementary School, The Youth Employment Partnership, and Green the Church to plant trees, address food insecurity and create a broader culture of earth care in our neighborhood. Earth Day is going to be a kick off for our summer’s Love 23rd Ave campaign that will put 100 personal (small) planter boxes in the community, 10 large community planter boxes as well as working on our goal of 200 trees in our immediate neighborhood. We are linking this program with Garfield Elementary to engage students and families in the greening process. We are also working with YEP to increase workforce pathways toward ecological careers for transitional aged youth with barriers to employment. https://www.oaklandca.gov/Community/Community-Development/Sustainability-Environment/Sustainability-Plans/Oakland-Urban-Forest-Plan "
