Feeding San Diego's Food Recovery Event
At Feeding San Diego, climate action is part of everything we do. Every day, we recover wholesome, edible food that might otherwise go to waste, helping nourish our neighbors while reducing the environmental impact of food ending up in landfills. On September 15, we're inviting our community to roll up their sleeves for a special Climate Action Day featuring three hands-on volunteer shifts that showcase how food recovery is one of the most impactful ways to fight both hunger and climate change. Volunteers will help rescue fresh, nutritious produce and prepare it for distribution to local families. Every pound of food recovered keeps valuable resources in our food system, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and brings healthy food to people who need it most. Whether you're passionate about sustainability, reducing food waste, supporting your community, or all three, this is a meaningful opportunity to make a tangible impact in just a few hours. Together, we'll transform rescued food into hope for our neighbors and climate action for our region. Eligibility: Volunteers ages 6 and older are welcome. Youth must be accompanied by an adult in accordance with volunteer guidelines.
