Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful Project
Tending for Tomorrow is a partnership project to help restore the south San Francisco Bay wetlands to benefit the native plants and local wildlife. At the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, volunteers will be led by biologists from the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory to restore wildlife habitat, which may include removing invasive vegetation, planting new plants, or laying down mulch. Along the way, participants get to enjoy fresh Bay air, see lots of birds, and learn from restoration experts about why this work is so important. The restoration effort occurs in up to a mile of levee that will mitigate the impacts of sea level rise through horizontal levee planting, improve habitat for endangered salt marsh harvest mice and ridgeway's rail birds, add pollinator-friendly food, and restore habitat that was lost to salt pond production.
