"Our climate action project focuses on accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation through a dynamic community initiative for National Drive Electric Week, featuring an interactive EV Showcase at the Thursday Night Farmers Market and a Saturday morning Ride and Drive event. The primary anticipated climate outcome of this project is a direct reduction in local greenhouse gas emissions and tailpipe pollutants by displacing internal combustion engine vehicles with zero-emission alternatives. By allowing community members to explore and test-drive electric vehicles (EVs) in a relaxed, pressure-free environment, the project directly combats misinformation and ""range anxiety,"" converting passive interest into active EV adoption that removes metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere annually. To achieve these outcomes, we will need volunteers to supply electric vehicles for the EV Showcase event. Acting as trusted grassroots ambassadors, these volunteers will educate participants by sharing real-world insights on EV ownership, charging, and incentives, ultimately utilizing peer-to-peer advocacy to enthusiastically encourage community members to make their next vehicle electric.
