Early Kidney Detection Foundation Disaster Readiness & Waste Reduction Volunteer Day
"Early Kidney Detection Foundation will host EKDF Climate Action Counts: Sacramento Disaster Readiness & Waste Reduction Volunteer Day, a community-based volunteer event focused on practical climate action, disaster readiness, waste reduction, and community volunteer engagement.
The event will support the Climate Action Counts priority actions of Be Disaster Ready, Reduce Waste, Tell a Friend, and Get Connected. Volunteers will help prepare and distribute climate-readiness education packets, organize reusable and low-waste preparedness materials, and encourage community members to take the Climate Action Counts pledge.
Volunteer tasks will include setting up outreach tables, assembling disaster-readiness packets, preparing extreme heat and wildfire smoke readiness checklists, organizing reusable supplies, helping participants complete pledge or interest forms, documenting volunteer attendance, taking before-and-after photos, and assisting with cleanup.
The anticipated climate outcomes include at least 25 volunteers engaged, at least 100 climate-readiness packets assembled or distributed, at least 25 households reached, and increased awareness of simple climate actions residents can take at home and in their neighborhoods. The event will especially support caregivers, older adults, families, and vulnerable households who may be impacted by extreme heat, wildfire smoke, power outages, and other climate-related emergencies."
