"Each year since 2023, we have organized the 'Great Auburn Ravine Creek and City Parks Clean-Up' event. We usually have about 200 people show up for this event. We divide them into teams and assign each team to a section of the creek or a City park. The creek sections cover the creek banks from Joiner Parkway upstream to the Hwy 193 bridge, and some of the adjacent floodplains. This year's event will be on Saturday, September 26, from 9AM to Noon. We partner with the City of Lincoln on this project. Our volunteers place all the trash at sites designated by the City, and the City picks it all up and takes it to the dump or recycle in the following days. Each year, we collect many tons of trash. Over the years, we have collected everything from cans & bottles to car parts, lawn chairs, and discarded clothing. One year, we even collected a full-size Pool Table that had been dumped off a bridge."
