San Diego Bird Alliance Community Greening Event
"Volunteers will work alongside San Diego Bird Alliance, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, the San Diego Natural History Museum, and other community partners to restore native habitats in the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge during a large Latino Conservation Week community event. Volunteers will plant native plants and remove invasive plants in wetlands and wetland-adjacent scrub, to improve habitat for birds and other wildlife. Last year, roughly 100 people attended this event, which celebrates latinos in conservation and binational efforts to protect nature which knows no border. The Tijuana River is the perfect place for the celebration, as it is a shared resource between the U.S. and Mexico with partners working on both sides on ecological and humanitarian initiatives to improve the watershed. San Diego Bird Alliance has been working with the local community here for over 5 years, and community partner organizations from both sides of the border will be in attendance. This event will be hosted bilingual English/Spanish."
