The service project is an opportunity to engage high school students in developing a garden of perennial plants, grasses and wildflowers native to Calaveras county. The garden is in a central location on campus, adjacent to the library. The aim is to encourage the school community to incorporate native plants into campus areas and family gardens. Creating native plant habitat increases local biodiversity, preserves local native plants, and nurtures and sustains local wildlife to create a resilient, waterwise, low-maintenance landscape. Calaveras Master Gardener volunteers will support this effort with advice and guidance.
